Thursday Art Classes

PRESCHOOL ART
Ages 4 to 6
Semester Fee: $50
Class Size: Max. 15
Each week’s art project will revolve around a new theme and story. We will use many different colors, shapes, textures, and media. Each project will have a theme letter and color to reinforce learning.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Paint smock.

ELEMENTARY ART
Grades 1 to 4
Semester Fee: $52.50
Class Size: Min. 5, Max. 18
Through the use of many different materials, children will create projects throughout the year. An assortment of mediums such as pencils, watercolors, tempera and acrylic paints, colored pencils, clay, and inks will be introduced in drawing, printing, sculpting, and other creative designs. Different styles of art as well as famous artists will be introduced as they relate to particular activities. Even if your child has taken this class before, new and different projects will be made. All materials will be supplied by the teacher.

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE ART
Grades 5 to 7
Semester Fee: $80
Class Size: Max. 15
Students observe demonstrations by the instructor and will use a wide variety of art materials.  Materials include paints (acrylic and water color), printing inks, pen & ink, charcoals, pastels, and clay.  They will develop skills in composition, design, drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking.  We will study basic art principles and elements and art terminology.  Students will exhibit an example of their art at the HHSW Christmas program and the Academic Fair.  All materials for classes will be supplied by the teacher.

MAKE DO: A CREATIVE CRAFTING COURSE
Grades 4 to 7
Semester Fee: $70
Class Size: Min. 6, Max. 15
I hope this class will encourage creativity, inspire confidence, and build an “I can!” attitude in each student. We will be looking at many everyday objects in new and interesting ways -- thinking “outside the box.” Projects will include items that are decorative, practical, gifts, etc. There will be room for individual expression as we build on some crafting basics.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: scissors, ruler, glue stick, tacky glue, pencil. Colored pencils and markers would be helpful.
