Rockford F.I.R.E. Boys' Basketball Program
Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops offers 12U, 14U, JV, and Varsity level boys' basketball teams. We are a cooperative faith-centered program that relies on parent volunteer participation to run the program well and to keep fees affordable for all.
Eligibility
The F.I.R.E. boys' basketball program adheres to the NCHC guidelines and eligibility. A player at least 10 years of age by August 1st, but not over 12 on August 1st is considered eligible to play in the 12-and-under age group. A player who is 14 (and under) on August 1st is considered eligible to play in the 14u age group. A 16 years of age (and under) player on August 1st is considered eligible to play in the 16u age group. A player who is 18 (and under) on August 1st is eligible to play in the 18u age group. At the coaches' discretion, and with parent approval, players may play in a higher age group.
Parents must ensure that their students are eligible according to the NCHC guidelines and eligibility requirements. If they are not, the entire program may be removed from the NCHC conference. By registering, you are agreeing that you have read and understand the requirements and that your student satisfies them. You can read more on NCHC eligibility and guidelines here.
Practices
An optional pre-season training may begin in late August/early September if offered. Practices begin in the fall, typically in September or October, and are held at Grace Reformed Baptist Church on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice times are subject to change at the coaches' discretion.
Fees
An annual sports-only registration fee of $175 for each family is due to Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops for families that are not already taking classes at Hallstrom. Families that take classes at Hallstrom will not be billed an additional registration fee, as their semester registration fees include F.I.R.E. sports. Uniforms are provided on loan, at no additional charge, for the season and must be returned on time at the end of the season to avoid any additional charge.
Athletic fees are separate and cover all regular season games. Regional, National, and other tournaments may result in additional player fees; although, this is dependent on overall team interest and availability. Transportation, food, and hotel expenses (when applicable) are not included. Athletic fees are due in two installments, with half being due on Oct. 1st and the remainder due on Nov. 1st.
