7/14 & 7/25, 5:30-7:30 PM, at UW Sports Factory (all athletes, returning or new, are encouraged to attend both tryouts but must attend one if that is all their schedules allow)

$5 Per Night, Per Athlete (cash or check only and due at each tryout)

No athlete (even returning players) will be permitted to tryout without the completion of a waiver.

All athletes must agree and adere to our Hallstrom Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.

Please note: New to Hallstrom athletes will need to complete an application and an interview prior to accepting an invitation to play for the Rockford F.I.R.E. volleyball team.
Rockford F.I.R.E. Background Information
The Rockford F.I.R.E. volleyball high school teams are competitive teams that provide instruction for newer players and advanced instruction for returning players. If your daughter is a newer player, it is recommended that they attend summer camps and practices so they can get started on the basics.
Eligibility:

Players must be at least 51% homeschooled.

Players must be 18 or younger on or before August 1st of the current school year.

Players who have graduated or gone through a graduation ceremony are not eligible.

Parent-directed home directed education includes: dual credit college courses, courses at home or online under the supervision of the parent, and local homeschool co-ops.
Season Information:

The girls participate in weekly practices, 1-4 matches per week, and 3-4 weekend tournaments/meets.

The varsity team also attends a National Home School tournament in Omaha, NE at the end of the season.

Pre-season practices start in August, and games begin in late August and run through late October.

If we have many students sign up, we will hold tryouts in late July prior to the first practice.

Placement on JV or varsity is determined by the skill and the needs of the team and not by age or grade level. Player placement on JV or varsity is at the coach's discretion and will be determined by mid to late August before the first games.

Parents should plan to attend a required parent meeting on August 4th, from 7-7:30 PM (the last 30 minutes of practice).

Parents are expected to help throughout the season, fulfilling multiple different roles.
Fees:
An athletic fee of $400 is due to Rockford F.I.R.E. Volleyball. The athletic fee covers regular season games and tournament entry fees. Hotel, food, and transportation costs for tournaments are not included. The athletic fee is payable 50% on or before August 1st, and the remaining 50% is due on or before September 1st. Website payment is preferred. A registration fee of $180 per family for Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops is due at the time of registration for sports-only players.
Practice times:
August M, T, TH 5:30-7:30; September-October T, TH 5:30-7:30 when there is no game. (times are subject to change)
Home Court:
All practices and home games will be played at UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison St., Rockford.
